In most states, a moped or scooter with an engine that is rated less than 50cc can be driven by someone without a motor vehicle license.

However, the vehicle still must be registered, and you have to have your registration plate on the moped or scooter.

Let's be clear; when you go to register it you will need a proper bill of sale. Some tacky sales slip from a receipt book will not do.

You don't want problems later on at the registry of motor vehicles or if the time comes that you want to re-sell it.
